Verona: Haddonfield's Best Italian Restaurant

Verona: Haddonfield's Best Italian Restaurant

If there’s one thing Haddonfield does exceptionally well, it’s creating the kind of downtown where you can spend an entire afternoon or evening without ever needing to get back in your car. Boutique shopping, historic architecture, tree-lined streets, coffee shops and an impressive collection of restaurants all contribute to the experience.

And when it comes to Italian dining in Haddonfield, Verona Ristorante Italiano has become one of the town’s standout destinations.

Located at 141 Kings Highway East in the heart of Downtown Haddonfield, Verona combines Southern Italian and Sicilian-inspired cuisine with the intimate, walkable atmosphere that makes dining in Haddonfield feel special.

Whether you already live in South Jersey, are visiting Haddonfield for the evening, or are considering making Haddonfield home, Verona is one of those local restaurants worth knowing.

Cooking from the Heart

We can all agree that food tastes best when it’s made with love. Owner Andrew Bodi puts his passion and dedication into each dish that comes out of the kitchen. And with three dining rooms, that can be a lot of dishes.

Bodi is from Albania, directly across the Adriatic Sea from Southern Italy, and moved to the United States at 17 with a dream of opening his own Italian restaurant in Haddonfield. Seven years later, with help from his family, that dream became his reality.

Living just 20 minutes from Southern Italy did more than just impact Bodi; it shaped the atmosphere and menu of Verona, which includes modern interpretations of classic Southern Italian and Sicilian cuisine. At Verona you can expect to find both Italian-American favorites, like Chicken Parmesan, and an abundance of seafood dishes, reflective of the Sicilian influence. Regardless of what you order, one thing is certain: that dish was crafted with only the best ingredients. Sourcing the finest ingredients, down to the right fat percent heavy cream for Tiramisu, is what takes Bodi’s food to another level.

Verona is approachable enough for someone looking for a great plate of pasta while still offering plenty for diners who want to explore beyond traditional Italian-American favorites.

A Restaurant That Feels Connected to Haddonfield

One of the reasons the best restaurants become neighborhood favorites isn't simply the food. It's how they fit into the community around them.

Bodi opened Verona’s doors in Haddonfield in 2018 and the restaurant has since established itself as part of the downtown dining scene. New Jersey Monthly has included Verona among its best restaurants in Haddonfield, highlighting its incredible cuisine, BYOB format and outdoor dining in the heart of downtown.

Verona has been a favorite of my family’s for years. It’s why I chose specifically to highlight them, in a sea of restaurants to choose from.

The food is incredible and the love that goes into it is palpable. I would consider it one of the best restaurants, not just in Haddonfield, but in New Jersey. But don’t let me convince you. Go see for yourself.
